Appleton History Club 1857

This is the first car in Calumet County and was owned by William Riley Bishop.

The founder of AHC-1857 is a lifelong resident of Appleton, WI. 

His family were among the early and active participants in:

American History- Mayflower descendant (Henry Samson).  Founders of New Haven, Conn (James Bishop).

Appleton History- Founded the "Fox River Bus Lines " in 1923 (Olof Lundquist)

Hello,

Over the past several years I have gained much insite to the local 'buzz' of historians and researchers.  One theme always comes up when we speak,

"How can we better educate the public about their own great history here in Appleton?" 

After really trying hard to come up with a solution, and trying hard to break into helping the local establishments with this problem, I came up with a better idea. 

"Why not just join the ranks of the rest of the citizens, and pay for the already available attractions, while still conducting my own research with like minded people."

This helps everyone in my opinion.  Let the local establishments do the presenting and preserving, while a group of us spend our money, attending attractions, socializing, and learning.

Times are tuff now, there is little reason for us local researchers to spend our money on little publicized education when others have much more money to do it. 

In the name of preservation, I am much happier to donate my money in participation fees, and help to spread the word when I can.
